Faceted stained glass windows were developed
in the 20th century. They consist of glass dalles (slabs)
8" x 12" x 1" thick, cast in hundreds of different
colors that can be cut to any shape and are bound together
in an epoxy matrix. Faceted stained glass is suitable
for a variety of design styles ranging from contemporary
to traditional but the thick glass results in a window
that is bolder in look than traditional leaded stained
glass. Due to the strength of the panels, they can also
be used to create window walls of striking beauty.
Since there is only minimal use of painting
on faceted glass, the design in faceted glass windows
is achieved by the color, the size and the shape of the
pieces and the shape and size of the negative space areas
created by the epoxy matrix. Design, taking all these
features into consideration, is essential. All of our
glass is saw-cut to assure accuracy of the design. Pieces
are then hand faceted to add a vibrant and striking shimmer
to each window.
