Restorations

Foster Stained Glass is experienced in the repair, restoration and protection of existing stained glass windows. Following the standards and guidelines for the preservation of historic stained glass windows set forth by the Stained Glass Association of America, we deal with all aspects of the restoration process. These consist of documentation, dismantling, cleaning, dealing with broken and missing glass, repainting, releading, waterproofing, support systems, reinstallation and protective glazing.

Notable restoration projects have included: the complete restoration of the 100 year old leaded stained glass windows in Mother Bethal AME Church, Philadelphia, PA, a National Historic Landmark; the restoration of the stained glass windows in the former 19th century English Gothic Church of the New Jerusalem and Parish House which now houses the Corporate Offices of Graduate Hospital and won a 1989 Renovation Award from Commercial Renovation; the 2000 sq. ft. of leaded stained glass in the 100 year old First Presbyterian Church in Dodge City, KS; and the restoration of the over 100 year old traditional figurative "Life of Christ" hand-painted leaded stained glass windows in the First Presbyterian Church, Houston, TX.
